NEWS FROM BOMBAY
Club 1st XI vice-captain Ed Humphreys is with team skipper Monty Desai in Bombay (Mumbai) playing cricket and assisting with Monty's coaching work - which is at a high level. Here are some bits of news sent back by carrier pidgeon:
"Monty's camp also now contains the names of James Hildreth, Graeme Swann, Ed Smith, Bopara, and coaching alongside Monty are Graham Gooch, John Embury, and Infan Pathan(Indian quick bowler)."
"Keep getting bitten by mossies."
"Travelled to a tournament to another state - one a bit north of Bombay(Maharasthra). Went there for 2 days. 5 hour train journey with all our cricket stuff. Very peaceful ground. Won both games. Had a reasonable knock in one of them."
"Monty's team play at a very high standard and I am barely good enough to be in the team. But I've done reasonably well in the games played so far, though without much real form with the bat or ball. The spinners play a major part in each game with huge turners."
"As it is so hot, I have been getting uncontrollable amounts of swing."
